At Hometap, being invested in homeowners has never been just about helping homeowners financially. It’s an enduring commitment to supporting the communities and causes that make homeownership better for everyone. And now, we’re excited to introduce a new way for homeowners to give back, together with Hometap.

How It Started

For years, we’ve lived Hometap’s mission through volunteer work, fundraising efforts, and partnerships with organizations like Heading Home, the largest provider of services for homeless families with children. We’ve shown up to assemble hygiene kits, help facilitate shelter-to-housing transitions, and pack coats to get those in need through the coldest months. We've also built a workplace that prioritizes being good owners and neighbors. At the end of the day, making homeownership less stressful and more accessible means showing up for homeowners in as many ways as we can.

The Homeowner Giving Program

With our Homeowner Giving Program, our commitment to community becomes a collaborative effort with our homeowners. Here's how it works: after a homeowner receives their home equity investment funds, they choose one of two vetted nonprofits, Rebuilding Together or Money Management International, and Hometap makes a donation on their behalf.

Rebuilding Together helps people stay in the homes they love. Money Management International helps people build the confidence to manage their money at every stage, including during homeownership. Together, they reflect both halves of our mission: making homeownership less stressful and more accessible.

When we designed this program, we prioritized:

  • Choice. Homeowners decide which cause means the most to them.
  • Alignment. Both nonprofits reflect Hometap’s values.
  • Continuity: This isn't one moment. It's a standing part of every Investment we make going forward.

Meet the Charities

Here's a closer look at the two organizations homeowners can choose:

Rebuilding Together: A national nonprofit that repairs homes and revitalizes communities, focused on keeping low-income homeowners — particularly seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities — safely and affordably in the homes they already have. Their work ranges from critical safety repairs to full accessibility modifications, and it’s already part of our own giving history: Hometap donated $15,000 to Rebuilding Together, split between the national organization and its Boston chapter, in December 2025.

Money Management International: One of the country’s largest nonprofit financial counseling organizations, helping people build budgeting skills, manage debt, and gain the confidence to make informed decisions about their money. For homeowners, financial confidence doesn't end at the closing table. It's what makes the years after feel manageable.

What’s Ahead

The program is just the newest chapter in a commitment we've been slowly and steadily building. Being invested in homeowners has always meant showing up in our local communities, our diversity, equity & inclusion efforts, and our financial literacy initiatives. The Homeowner Giving Program lets every homeowner we work with give back, in the way they choose, to a cause that matters to them.

This chapter is just the beginning, and it’s one we’re excited to keep writing —homeowner by homeowner, dollar by dollar.
