Meet Spencer Herman

What’s the best part of your job? How does being an Investment Manager at Hometap differ from your past work experiences?

Allowing homeowners to access the equity they’ve worked hard to build in their home without taking on any additional debt. Hometap is so focused on the homeowner experience. We understand how traditional lenders do business and in contrast, we make the funding as smooth as glass for each homeowner.

Is there a particular homeowner story that really made an impact on you? What is it and why?

One homeowner I worked with was shopping around to fund his renovations and was in a great financial situation, but didn’t want to take on any debt so he could maintain a good day-to-day cash flow. He saw how homeowner-friendly we are and how we could allow him to bring in a great monthly income without having any debt that left him cash-strapped. He’s kept me updated about his renovations, and they look amazing!

What are your favorite things to do when you’re not working?

I like to exercise, try new restaurants, and venture to new states.

What’s one thing you wish people knew about Hometap?

A Hometap HEI has a ten (10) year term, during which no monthly or recurring payments are required. Hometap records a lien against the property, in the form of a mortgage or deed of trust, to secure its interest. You may choose to settle the Investment at any time during the term without incurring any penalties by exercising an Owner Repurchase. If you do not settle the HEI by the expiration of the term, your Hometap HEI provider may exercise its right to acquire a percent ownership interest in the property and then work with you to sell the property.
