Global Capital: HEI Enters 'Mainstream' as Hometap Readies Capital Markets Engagement

A new pocket of rated residential securitization is emerging.

Kunyi Yang at Global Capital recently spoke with our CEO Jeff Glass and Head of Structured Finance Cara Newman, as Hometap sets sight on capital markets engagement and securitization for the first time.

In particular, the article noted the "mainstreaming" of home equity alternatives, both for homeowners and investors, as newer models become more understood and softer macroeconomic conditions ripen demand.

"In a rising rate environment where people don't want to trade out of their 3 percent mortgage, they're looking to other means to monetize their equity," one banker told the publication. "We would expect home equity lines of credit to be one part of that, but niche products such as HEI will also be growing fast."
